Have you ever thought that you found “The One” but eventually disappointed you? We usually encounter clients expressing their frustration over products that were working wonders on their skin for the first few weeks or months of usage but suddenly stopped working. Well, we feel you! It’s really frustrating to think that you finally got the suitable skincare products for your skin but all of a sudden couldn’t see a noticeable result. Let us walk you through the common reasons why products “suddenly stopped working”.
Your skin needs change from time to time. The needs of your skin are greatly affected by age, stress, weather, skin concerns and skin conditions. To be able to address each need completely, different skincare products are needed. There’s no such thing as “one size fits all” in skincare. In example, if the weather is cold and dry and you’re currently using drying products in your routine, you would have to add a moisturizer or a facial oil that could help hydrate and moisturize your skin to be able to see optimum results. Routine modification is important so it would suit your current skincare needs.
You might be experiencing hormonal changes. Pregnancy, Hormonal Imbalance and Menopause might take a toll on your skin. Depending on its effects, a routine change may also be needed.
It could be your skin’s “new normal”. Some skincare products can give good results as early as one week. At first you’ll notice all the good things that it has done to your skin, even comparing it to your skin’s previous state. As you continue using the products, you might see less noticeable results even if the products are still working. Skincare products do not lose their effectiveness overtime but because your skin has improved and there’s nothing much to compare it with, you somehow perceive it as “not working” wherein it actually helps maintain your skin.
Improper storage of skincare products. Make it a habit to read the label or the product’s manual to ensure that you’re following the correct storage instructions so your skincare product won’t be put to waste. Most of the time, active ingredients are very sensitive and can be broken down when not stored properly. Our products are packed in a dark blue glass bottle to protect the ingredients and to prevent this from happening. Our bestseller, the Vitamin C Serum does not have any report of oxidation to date. Remember to keep skincare products away from direct sunlight then you’re good to go!
Consistency is key. Make it a daily habit and give your skin some time to adjust to the products.
Exfoliate. Exfoliate. Exfoliate. When you don’t exfoliate, layers of dead skin cells prevent the products from penetrating into your skin. That means, it only sits on top of your skin and your skincare products are wasted for nothing plus you don’t get to see good results/improvements. Try to exfoliate one to two times per week.
You are skipping sunscreen. Sunscreen is considered as one of the best anti aging skincare products in the market that almost everyone neglects. Make sure to use sunscreen with atleast SPF30 daily and reapply every 2 hours.
If your current skincare products are working for you, try to stick to it. But if you’re feeling a little adventurous and want to try something new, replace products one at a time but don’t completely change your whole routine. Products that are easy to replace include moisturizers, sheet masks and clay masks. However, if you really feel like the products are not working for you, you may change but make sure to always consider your skin’s needs and your skin type when choosing new skincare products. Try Wildleaf’s Healing Clay Mask. It would help firm and tighten the look of your skin naturally and it’s suitable for all skin types.
