Busting The Most Common Skincare Mistakes

Having a skincare routine has been a trend these days and we are all excited to join the bandwagon thinking that it makes us one step closer to achieving that perfect skin. Have you ever been disappointed because your routine never worked? Have you ever asked yourself why? Read on to find out.

You might be neglecting your skin type. This is the most common reason. Choosing the wrong skincare for your skin type may lead to an ineffective routine or worse, skin aggravation. We have discussed this in detail in our previous post, Jumping Into a New Skincare Routine?: Tips and Tricks to Get You Started.

Lack of Research.  Harmful chemicals like Parabens, Sulfates and GMOs can be added in skincare. Not doing enough research regarding the ingredients of the products that you’re going to use makes you vulnerable to skin irritation. The good news? Wildleaf is a clean skincare brand that uses natural and organic ingredients free from harmful chemicals which makes it safe to use even by pregnant women.

Introducing new products all at once. We know how exciting it is and you can’t get enough of trying them. Rule of thumb: patch test the products prior to using them and introduce them one by one with at least two days interval so you would get the chance to observe how the product reacts with your skin. That way, you will be able to know which one has caused the untoward skin reaction and you can stop using them right away to prevent further skin damage.

Incorrect order of applying skincare products. The general rule in applying skincare products is to start from the thinnest to thickest consistency. Applying products in proper order ensures better absorption so that your skin receives the full benefit of each product. We know that layering too many products is a little confusing so with every order, we always make sure to include instructions to avoid confusion. Step by step instructions are also available on our website: www.wildleaf.us.

Exfoliating too little or too much. Our skin naturally exfoliates every 28 days but it wouldn’t hurt to give our skin a little help to get rid of dead skin cells. When you exfoliate, you give your skin a faster turnaround time to regenerate healthier skin making your skincare products easily absorbed. It’s ideal to exfoliate once or twice a week depending on your skin’s needs but be careful not to over exfoliate as over exfoliation may lead to dryness, inflammation and irritation while too little or  not exfoliating at all may lead to clogged pores, making your skin more prone to acne.

You’re forgetting the basics. Even before skincare routines became popular, there are natural ways to keep your skin healthy and that includes getting enough sleep, proper hydration, regular exercise, eating a balanced diet and good hygiene. Taking these into consideration would help your skincare routine work effectively.

Doing things your way. Experts exist for a reason. They are well trained and knowledgeable enough to extend help. Sometimes, we tend to do things on our own which leads to more complications and we don’t want that. With this in mind, we have our own Skincare Specialist to assist you with your skin concerns and guide you throughout your Wildleaf skincare journey.
